Happy Birthday Zack!

My sweet little Zachary just turned 4. We start the month of January out with three family birthdays in a row, my niece Isabella, Poppa, then Zack's. He knows the birthdays and after Christmas kept saying, "It going be Bella's birthday, then Poppa's birthday, thennnnnn going be MY birthday!"

Zack has a heart of gold. He is the sweetest kid. He will always come up to me and hug my legs and tell me, "My love you soooo much! You are the bestest Mommy ev-ah (ever)!" and then kisses me.

He is always sharing with and looking out for Mason. They are so funny to listen to when they talk and we are out of the room. He even let Mason help him open his birthday presents!

Zachary is super smart and he has the memory of an elephant. He can remember anything. He is learning how to read right now and we have been practicing site words, he only has to look at it once and he will forever remember it. He remembers all of the small details from family vacations too, ones we took forever ago and Victor and I can't even remember!
He loves Conner too. Naturally when you have an older sibling they are your idol. He loves playing sports and just being around his cool big brother.
He is also very shy and selective. He takes a while to warm up to people or give them any attention, but when he does Zack is your loyal bud for life.
A few of his favorite things right now are the Wii, puzzles, books, and cooking with Mom.
If you are a follower of our blog then you know Zack is our little gamer. He loves all things Mario. He was very excited about his birthday cake I made him, so much that he didn't want to eat it!
We did a few of Zack's favorite things and took him out to eat to his favorite restaurant. Later that night we had a small little party for him with Victor's sister Maudi and cousin Casey. Zack was thrilled and had a wonderful time on his special day.

Thanks everyone for cards, phone calls, presents, money, and well wishes.

Happy Birthday my little Zack-a-roo! We love you soooooooo much!

New Year 2011

After my and Victor's Park City escape we headed back to my parent's house to ring in the New Year with family. My sister Camillie and brother Jake and their families came up to make it a real party!

The cousins played and played and had a wonderful time! Lots of games and running around.

Like always, we had wonderful food!!! Then we all had to recover from all of the wonderful food we ate. (Diet starts January 1st right?). Millie and Chad taking a breather.
Ringing in the New Year with a few of those who matter most in our lives. Isn't Camille's baby belly so cute?!?!

Bear is always in heaven when my dad is around. He loves him more than anything.

It is pretty nice when your kids can't tell time (well Zack and Mace anyway). We rang in the New Year with the little ones around 9 pm. They had so much fun with their hats, whistle blowers, pops, and mini fireworks.
The adults stayed up to play some fun games Victor and I got for Christmas and to watch a movie that miraculously got over at 11:58 pm! As soon as the movie was over Victor tuned in to watch the ball drop. What timing!
All of the cousins had their sparkling cider and were ready for their New Year's toast. However, it was quickly forgotten when all of the pops and whistles were pulled out. So much fun to be a kid!
Thanks to everyone for such a great time and fabulous food! Happy New Year!

Park City Getaway

After Christmas we dropped the boys off to my Mom and Dad and headed down to Park City for few days of a little adult escape. Victor and I had a fabulous time shopping, dining, enjoying one another, and snowshoeing!
Park City is full of fabulous snowshoeing trails it was difficult to choose. We will certainly have to make more trips so we can hit them all. Or at least that is what I will use as my excuse to getaway again. :)
We took Rob's trail halfway up the mountain and then connected to Ambush trail. Ambush trail hadn't been touched and was fresh powder all to ourselves to break in!
We have found the huge storms only want to come through when we have to drive somewhere. A huge storm hit the day before and it was a beautiful winter wonderland!

I have the best husband ever! He is always making sure everyone is taken care of no matter what we do. He straps me into my gear, checks and double checks everything, makes sure we have all of the equipment needed, and is always asking if I am warm or what I need. I love that boy!
We also met up with some of our dearest friends at Cafe Trio in Cottonwood (awesome pick Krista, it was yummy!). It is difficult to squeeze everyone in when you only have a short amount of time, but Krista and Rick and Josh and Robyn are awesome! We have made them "share" us so many times. But they are all so sweet and outgoing everyone gets along perfectly and they are like old friends by now too.

Outstanding food and even better company, what a perfect night! Thanks everyone for meeting up with us and a BIG thanks to my Mom and Dad for taking the boys and an even bigger thanks to my hubby for a fabulous little escape.

Christmas 2010

Christmas came and went like a flash, like it always seems to. We celebrated Christmas Eve with a fantastic prime rib dinner and usual family traditions. Victor's sister, Maudi, and our nephew, Casey, joined us this year. There is just something about family that makes everything more fun!
My goodness, trying to get these three to pose for picture was pretty much impossible. They were so silly but having a wonderful time doing so.

Two years ago we had to take Conner to the ER to get Christmas Eve stitches. I thought we were going to have a repeat of that experience with Mason. He fell and whacked his eye on the kitchen table and ended up with a HUGE gash! Victor cleaned up and thought he was good to go with no trip to the ER. Poor little guy!

We played games after dinner and the boys were full of energy and so cute. Pictured below is Conner and cousin Casey.

Victor always reads the story of the birth of Christ that we all enjoy before we get out the reindeer dust. The little ones were so excited to get outside and throw the dust. Mason was really into it and thrusting his body with every throw to ensure he spread it all over. We all got a kick out of his animations.

Then we have the annual tradition of Conner reading The Night Before Christmas to the little ones. They are so good and listen to his every word intently.

Christmas morning Conner dove right in but the little ones only wanted to play with a little M&M airplane that was in their sock! It took us a while to talk them into opening their presents!

They were so fun. Conner devoured his presents, everything Mason opened he happily exclaimed, "My favorite!" and everything Zack opened he would say, "Just what I always wanted!"

We were all spoiled to death. However, as the years come and pass I know my family forgets the material items but will always remember our family traditions and the fun things we did for others. For us, that is what really makes Christmas!
